End The Lights Stars deal
This is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. I grew up in the Deep South (although I’m about 30 years younger than Skeeter and her crowd) and reading this book was like going home to a place long ago and currently far away. And, my goodness do I now have a craving for a treat I haven’t had in years…caramel cake!
While nearly everything rang “true” for me, I did have a “no way” moment when I read about Skeeter going shopping while wearing jeans. My own Mama wouldn’t let me wear jeans until after 1980 as she thought they were tacky and not something a lady should wear. LOL. She is of Skeeter’s era and didn’t wear jeans in public until a decade or so ago.
Anyway, my only significant complaint is that I feel the ending left a lot of things unresolved. I am still very satisfied with the book but am left wondering what happened and most definitely wanting more. Perhaps there will be a sequel.
