I needed a scale that was accurate and would fit into a relatively small space. After a good many abortive attempts, I got the EatSmart Precision Digital Scale and I’m happy as a clam. It is everything I wanted; small, accurate and efficient with a good size read out. The price was good and it came very quickly. I hope it lasts as long as I do.

Is it even possible to have a conversation with God, in the same everyday sense that we can have a conversation with another person? Neale Donald Walsch doesn’t claim to have literally heard the voice of God, but he claims that God spoke to him nonetheless, and that he has simply transcribed God’s words.* I don’t think I’m the right person to take a position on Walsch’s claim but I will say that he offers a beautiful and compelling vision of reality and our creative power. His book inspires the excitement and the feeling of recognition that we experience when encountering a deep insight or truth. Readers might find passages in Conversations with God, attributed to God, that sound more like Walsch. But maybe those passages reflect Walsch’s limitations, or the reader’s limitations in understanding them.

In the book, we are told that God encompasses all things, including us. God created us – a part of Himself – so He could experience Himself. A thing can only be experienced in relation to what it is not, and we find both good and bad in the world. But we are urged not to condemn what we call bad in the world. Rather, when we encounter conditions that are inconsistent with what we are or what we want to be, we need to take responsibility for them and ultimately change them through our creative power.

The discussion of this – the creative power that we share with God – is the most compelling part of the book. We are told that the creative process begins with thought, becomes more concrete through speech, and more concrete still through action. When we recognize our power to create, we recognize that we are responsible for what exists. This is obviously true on one level: “things are what you make of them” is a commonplace. We have all seen people live up to our high expectations or be dragged down by low ones. This is great entertainment when you are stuck inside. Also provides some decent exercise. The only negative is the same music over and over. Had to quit playing for a while, because the music drove me crazy.

It seemed to work fine the first time I used it, but then I lost the instruction manual and can’t figure out how to turn it on. So all it does it sit in my garage and collect dust, but not in the way that vacuum cleaners are supposed to. If the Hoover company had really wanted to improve customer satisfaction, they should have focused on making an instruction manual that isn’t so easy to lose. However, based on my one use of it, it warrants four stars.

The Kindle is everything I expected. I bought it mostly for the electronic ink and I really like how it feels. The weight is perfect and it’s very easy to use. I also really like that I can underline text and make notes and review those later, without having to review all the text. The speed at which I can download a new book is also a big plus. Finally, I like that my real life bookshelf will stop inflating because I was out of space since a long time ago.

I also like the fact that we can upload pdf documents, although it’s sometimes difficult to read due to the small screen. If I increase the size of the pdf, then its difficult to center the text. Also, the background is a little bit grey, but I read that the contrast is improved in the new Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 6″ Display, Graphite, 3G Works Globally – Latest Generation
What I don’t like is that many books are still not available on the Kindle and some are more expensive than the paper version, although many are much cheaper. It makes no sense to me to pay more…

I’m quite happy with my new pedometer. The memory helps me compare my progress on a daily basis either through calories burned, aerobic steps or total distance. It’s simple to use as opposed to some I’ve seen. I highly recommend it.
