Just what I needed. Folks, this bike does not promise the moon. It is a very inexpensive road bike. With that said, I am very pleased about purchasing it! I had an older bike and considered upgrading GMC Denali Road Bike but the cost was going to be prohibitive. Also my wife asked me to listen to reason and not blow $600 on a bike if I wasn’t going to be serious about it!

Well, I’m still not serious but let me tell you about the bike.

First, Amazon shipped it right on time (in fact a day early!). And the bike arrived in good shape, the box had some damage but nothing serious. I unpacked it and assembled it with no issue, but I have some experience with bikes. Just go slow with the directions close by and you’ll be fine. The only thing I really had to adjust was the front brake. Also look closely at the front tire sidewall and you’ll see that the tire is meant to turn a specific direction. I adjusted the seat/handelbar position and went for a spin. I made more adustments on the seat until I got it just right. The existing seat is ok, but I’ll probably upgrade before too long. Everythng works well and I do like the twist shifters even though I was unsure if I would really like them. I will have to make some derailleur adjustments for both the front and back derailleur. The shift position is close but not perfect, kinda what I expected.

If you want to save the hassle or don’t have the experience then a stop at your local bike shop for a tune up and that will fix you up.

I was worried about getting the right size, but the Medium is perfect for my chunky 6′0″ frame.

The Shimano components are fine and the brakes are adequate (second on my upgrade list after the seat). All in all a TREMENDOUS value for the money.

I have just made a dozen short runs (just a few miles each) and I’m really looking forward to more time on my new bike!

Updated 9/2007 – Still have the bike and now I’m really of the opinion that you need to get your local bike shop to tune it up for you. Spend 3 hours on it last week and it performed better than I did! Great bike for the entry rider and my friends with their very pricy bikes agree. Great value, but you need to have a real professional tune it up.

Great Price, Great shipping, Awesome bike. My best friend got me into cyling so i decided i wanted to buy a road bike. First i went to my local bike store.to my surprise the cheapest road bike that had was $725. im only 12 and i couldnt afford something like that unless i saved my allowences for like 2 years. I was still determined to find a relatively cheap road bike that was good quality(something better than the crap u get at wal-mart).so i decided to search the internet. after about 45min. of searching aroudn i stumbled on the gmc denali. it lokked awesome and the features it had on it were pretty good for a $147 bike(i had my friend check out the features). that was when i decided i want the gmc denali. i checked my savings acount and to my dismay i was short of $147 so i did some extra chores and voula! i ordered it(with my mother’s help of course). 2 days later it came on time and i immediatly put it together(my dad is a mercedez-benz mechanic abd to him it seems im good enough to follow in his path).i took it for a spin. it was better than i expected. the gears shifted well but i had some trouble with the brakes. so i manually tightened them and now they work fine. the only thing that bothers me is sometimes in certain gears it makes a funny noise. i tinkered with the chain and soon got this to stop. so if you are looking for a inexpensive road bike, this is the one to get

Great Bike- Great Price. I purchased my Denali on June 26th, and use it to commute to and from work, approximately 5 miles each way. I have been pleased with its’ performance, as well as the quality of the construction of the bicycle. Most days I leave for work early, just to ride a few extra miles, as it is such an easy bicycle to ride, a true joy. I don’t buy gas anymore, and I have lost 10 lbs since I started riding! What a great trade out.

People seem confused when they learn that it is not a $800 bike, and that it sells for less than $200, as it looks and rides like a much more expensive bike. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good commuter, daily rider or fun exercise bike.
