Qwerkbot+ rigid webcam mountFor computer vision applications on the Qwerkbot+ it’s useful to have the webcam mounted rigidly on the pan/tilt, to maintain a fixed alignment of the camera. You can build the webcam mount shown here using a Lynx Motion C-bracket, two plastic soda bottle caps, and four Phillips-head tapping screws (Lynx Motion part number PHTS-01). For the bracket, the Lynx Motion ASB-09 is ideal; just put aside the ball bearing hardware for some other use. Or you can use the cheaper ASB-03 instead if you're willing to drill some holes yourself. Bolt the bracket to the pan/tilt’s bracket as shown. The hardest part is removing the webcam circuit board from the plastic shell. Use a pliers or wire cutter to bite away the plastic one piece at a time. Work slowly so as not to damage the board or the cable. Once you have the board out, cut slots in the bottle caps just deep enough to let the board nestle between them when they're sandwiched into the bracket. Put screws in the two horizontal holes in each bracket end to attach the bottle caps; the two vertical holes can't be used because the screws would hit the webcam board.
