Robot to Exercise Your Dog

The Robots Feed Your Dog idea is similar in nature to an idea we want for our dog. Instead of just giving her food, it would make her exercise during the day so that she won't be so hyper when we come home.

In this version there’s a hoop that she has to jump through in order to get a treat. You could even set it so she has to jump through it a couple times before the treat is dispensed. The IR sensor detects if she’s gone through the hoop or not. I decided to go with a speaker instead of a bell so that I can have different sounds for different things. Maybe I'd link up a couple different obstacles at different sides of the room so she'd have to run around a little to complete the course. Once she finishes the task she'd get a treat.

This is a great plan - lets face facts. Could you combine this with all those famous studies about how the rat pushes the bar the most when the bar produces food only some of the time, at random when pushed, rather than all the time or none of the time? This way, getting the most possible jumps. you could even just make the treats a regular part of dog diet - dispensing pellets from a bowl etc, and then giving good old pup the rest of the portion when it was dinner time if it all hadn't been dispensed.
