I’ve wanted a Kindle for quite some time… seeing them in airports, etc. I’m going to be moving to Africa for a couple of years for my husband’s work and this will be invaluable!! I’ll download the books we both want to read and not have to take precious shipping space and weight with books!! YES!! I love the larger print feature (yes… I’m OLD) and can’t wait until there’s more ‘text to speech.’

Affordable though it may be, this little vacuum cleans my carpet extraordinarily well, and we have two messy toddlers. I was actually surprised by how much cleaner it got my floor than my other lightweight Hoover vac. And yes, my housecleaner even complimented me on it because she used it on my carpet. Very happy with this purchase!

After reading the first fifty or so pages, I stopped and thought that surely someone is going to make a movie out of this book. It is definitly the best book I’ve read in years. And Kathryn Stockett truly speaks the voice of southern women. As a Yankee transplant now in her 25th year in the South, this voice I know well and this is “it”.
Fortunately I can happily add that the racist voices you hear in this book are from the past. You would have to dig far and deep here in the South to find these attitudes anymore in educated women. And with that I’m not going to say anything more lest I spoil it for those who haven’t read the book yet. But please, don’t hesitate. It’s wonderful.
To whoever makes this movie, please don’t ruin it by putting someone from up north in it with a fake Southern accent. It will kill the movie.

I like Beautiful Day And Other
Teenager Holden Caulfield has just been expelled from yet another prep school for failing his classes and having a really bad attitude. Here he recounts his adventures and observations during a weekend on his own in New York City.
I remember being quite shocked at Holden’s anti-social thoughts and non-stop profanity and not liking him at all when I first read this book. It was a pleasure to reread it forty years later and find that my feelings for him had changed a lot; now I find him a bright, charming, and pitiable combination of the social misfit from “Napoleon Dynamite,” the angry young man from “Rebel Without a Cause,” and a bit of Eddie Haskell, too. His penchant for vulgarity and manic emotionality remind me of a scared puppy who’s all bark and no bite; he’s in desperate need of attention and affection and luckily, he gets it.
This classic character study of a troubled boy is highly recommended for mature readers.

Kathryn Stockett gives wonderful insight to the lives of the women in this book. I had never read historical fiction before, but this book will not be my last! I’m sure there are women in towns all across the South wondering if certain characters were based on their grandmother
