A novel relevant to teens today and one that will be relevant for years to come is The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Taking place in the 1950s, the novel follows the narrator, seventeen-year-old Holden Caulfield, as he fails out of yet another prep school during his struggle to find his place in this world of “phonies.” He is stuck between childhood and adulthood, unable to make the transition, and fearing that he too will become one of these “phonies.” Through Holden and his predicament, Salinger portrays the theme of the loss of childhood innocence and fear of growing up that many teens experience every day.
As Holden encounters difficulties with roommates, relatives, and relationships, teenage readers can connect to his problems and understand his feelings and desire to remain young. He shares the confusions of sex, love, and overall morality, unable to understand what is right. Although some argue that the language of the novel is too harsh, profane, and perhaps unnecessary; it is through this tone that young readers relate. This abrasive dialogue helps to show that Holden is not some perfect prep school kid but an everyday teen who makes mistakes and fears what the future may hold. At first he seems to have a tough and almost rebel-like exterior, but as readers learn of his close relationship to his little sister Phoebe and the pain he feels concerning the death of his brother, it becomes evident that underneath the façade is a caring and loving heart.
A truly timeless work of literature, Holden and his dilemmas are a model for many. Highly recommended, Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye tackles the quandary that all teens face as they transition into adulthood, encouraging them to be true to themselves and avoid becoming just another “phony” of today’s world.

Wanna Hand Smart Stick Cuisinart
Worked fine for the first few weeks. It is now IMPOSSIBLE to push in thick carpet. I am not sure how I will be able to use the warranty as the nearest service center is 50 miles away. It replaced another Hoover that also became very difficult to push in carpet. I am tired of buying vacuums that work for a few weeks/months and then stop working. I will be shopping for a different brand, one that has a local service shop where I can use the product’s warranty.

I have read the book once and have listened to it in it’s entirety 4 times. This is my Bible. It has comfort me many times through the loss of parents and being broken heart by who I thought was the love of my life.
Through the Audio version I have always felt as though God was talking directly to ME. But every couple of years, I need to remind myself how much God loves me and is always there for me.
Even now, as I write this review, I feel like God is watching over my shoulder and I feel so much better about this day.

I can’t believe people are still shelling out big bucks for HDMI cables in the stores. I’ve bought several of these cheapies and they work every bit as well.

American Cheerleader test
I glanced at a copy of this from the locker of a girl next to me. I was shocked and amazed about how dumb people are for buying this and making it. This is so stupid. It just is amazing how humans waste resources and knowledge and time printing this garbage.

Sick about Die or Adapt Transforming
There are a lot of business books out there espousing the latest management fads and panceas. Having spent 15 years consulting with many US and multi-national manufacturers, this book does a great job of clearly depicting today’s problems.
I think this book spoke plainly about those problems and solutions in way that many executives don’t want to hear. There was no sugar coating in this book; either companies must come to grips with their antequated operating and management structures or they’ll cease to exist. Pretty simple. And when you consider it for a moment, the are lot of companies that seem to be taking the latter path not the former (think United Airlines; Kmart; Ford; GM).
I think the adaptive business network is a great concept that deserves further consideration. It is interesting that the writer comes from a software/technology company, especially since this isn’t a techie book. Maybe SAP is on to something big if they have the technology to help an adaptive business network run.

MAESTRO EDITION CREMONA SPECIAL to you
Way before the blockbuster movies came out my sister and best friend recommended a book called Twilight. A fan of the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and big young adult fiction reader, they thought I’d really like the story of a shy girl sent to live with her dad in a small town who accidentally falls in love with the local vampire. I gobbled this book up the way Edward desperately wants to sink his teeth into Bella. The story is simple but so enjoyable. Bella is a girl I can easily relate to and who doesn’t want their own perfect Edward? Stephenie Meyer’s idea isn’t that original but the way she tells the story, through Bella’s eyes, makes for a really great love story with an interesting twist. Meyer’s perfectly sets the scene, with her super descriptive style. Thank god this is a series because I couldn’t get enough!
